Taraba Visits NASHIA to Understudy Nasarawa's Health Insurance model
Dr Bordìya Buma, the Taraba State Commissioner for Health has led a delegation on a working visit on Wednesday to the Nasarawa state Health Insurance Agency (NASHIA) in a bid to understudy the processes, procedures and operational guidelines and frameworks of Health Insurance Scheme as successful implemented by NASHIA.
Welcoming the team, the Nasarawa State Commisioner for Health, Dr Gaza Gwamna joined also by the Acting Executive Secretary of NASHIA, Dr Simon Eric Istifanus thanked the delegation for the visit and lauded them for their interest and desire to learn from Nasarawa State in order to replicate and implement the same in Taraba.
Prior to his present appointment, Dr Gaza Gwamna was the immediate past and pioneer Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency and former Chairman Forum of Chief Executive Officers of State Social Health Insurance Agencies in Nigeria who assured them of NASHIA' s readiness to offer all necessary assistance and support to the Taraba State Contributory Health Insurance Agency (TSCHIA).
According to Dr Bordiya Buma who stated the mission of the delegation was to understudy NASHIA's processes and activities adding that the visit would also afford them the opportunity to broaden their knowledge with a view to replicate and implement same towards improving the healthcare system in Taraba State.
Dr Bordiya Buma who came along with other senior Staffs of the ministry including the Executive Secretary of Taraba State Contributory Health Insurance Agency (TSCHIA), and organised labour thanked NASHIA for availing them the opportunity to visit and to tutored them, noting that it was heart-warming that the cordiality extended toward them.
He also hailed the NASHIA team for the various sacrifices they have made in tutoring them, assuring them that their sacrifices will not go unrewarded as the history of Health Insurance in Taraba State would not be completed without mentioning that the once came to Nasarawa State to understudy their system.
"I want to sincerely thank you and your team for taking your time to really totured us. It is something that without you we won't have been able to see the light as we are seeing now and these sacrifices you are doing now will not go unrewarded. In fact our history, the insurance in Taraba State, the history would not be completed without mentioning you because anytime we are talking about it we must mention the fact that we came to Nasarawa one time to understudy their system", Dr Buma said.
On their part, the Taraba State Organised Labour promised the Taraba State Commissioner for Health that they would support the successful implementation of the programme after studying the Nasarawa model and that the Taraba state contributory health insurance programme would be a flagship of the nation. They stated this while commending NASHIA for their hard work and warm welcome.
Presentations on claims management, an overview of NASHIA and its processes, as well as a tour of a few facilities in Lafia, the state capital, were among the highlights of the visit.
