GOV. SULE FLAGS OFF THE NASARAWA STATE HEALTH INSURANCE EQUITY PROGRAMME FOR THE VULNERABLES AT THE SPECIAL SCHOOL LAFIA

His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State has flagged off the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Equity Programme for the Vulnerable today at the Special School Lafia, a scheme he tagged "Very Dear to his Heart".

Speaking at the occasion, Gov Sule who was represented by His Excellency, The Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe announced that As part of the enabling law establishing the scheme, 0.5% of the consolidated revenue of the state was set aside as equity fund to cover the health care needs of the vulnerable members of the society. This is one of the social safety nets programme of this administration through the State Health Insurance Scheme to provide Basic Minimum Package of Health Services to the poor and vulnerable amongst us.

"I am glad to inform you that I have approved the release of the equity fund to the state agency to cover the premium of the vulnerable group" he said

In the same vein, the Executive Secretary Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency (NASHIA) Dr. Gaza Gwamna assured his Excellency of prudent use of funds, He further stressed that the Agency is in partnership with the National Identity Management Commision (NIMC) as National Identity Number have been generated for all who do not have as it is a mandatory requirement for enrolling into the scheme "ID cards for the Students of the Special school have been printed and enrollment is stil ongoing, as soon as the scheme is launched cards will be distributed to those who have been enrolled" he said.
