NASHIA ES Seeks For Traditional Rulers Support Towards Achieving Universal Health Coverage

Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency (NASHIA), Dr Yahaya Bawa Ubam has sought for the support of the traditional institution in the state towards attainment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). 

The agency needs the support of the traditional rulers in the state to achieve its goals, according to Dr. Ubam, who led the management staff on an advocacy and sensitization visit to the palace of the Emir of Lafia and Chairman of the Nasarawa State Traditional Council of Chiefs, HRH Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I JSC (rtd). 

The Executive Secretary acknowledged the roles the traditional rulers play in the society hence the need to engage them and solicit for their overwhelming support. 

"You can't undertake any feasible project without the inclusion of the Royal father's which are the parental body of every institution in the society. With this, I deemed it worthy and necessary to visit our father, His Royal Highness, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I" , Dr Ubam stated.

He reaffirmed to the public the importance of having health insurance, noting that, in certain cases, illness strikes when money is tight and that, as a result, enrolling in a plan is the only way to ensure that households and individuals will always have access to quality medical care.

Dr Ubam restated agency's continued commitment in ensuring all residents of the state have accesible to affordable, qualitative and sustainable health care services without facing financial hardship while accessing health care services. 

Recognising the effective leadership of the Royal father, the Executive Secretary highlighted the role of HRH Justice Sidi Bage in making Nasarawa State into one of the nation's most peaceful states.

Responding, His Royal Highness, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I lauded the state government for introducing the scheme to the state.

He assured the Executive Secretary of his support and that of  the traditional institution towards attainment of UHC by ensuring that all residents of the state have access to quality and affordable health care services without financial difficulties.
